This role is designed for someone early in their surveying or construction career who is keen to learn, develop technical expertise, and build a strong foundation in structural defects and building pathology. You'll work alongside experienced surveyors and adjusters and receive structured training to help you progress confidently into more complex work over time. As part of the team, you'll support the management of a varied portfolio of structural and latent defect cases across commercial, residential, and multi‑unit properties. With guidance and training, you'll assist with site visits, help collect evidence, and support the assessment of damage and potential causation. You'll contribute to preliminary reports, help review technical documentation, and work with senior colleagues and external engineers to understand how repair strategies are developed. As your skills grow, you'll gradually take on more responsibility-such as reviewing scopes of work, monitoring reinstatement progress, and preparing elements of final reports. You'll be supported through on‑the‑job learning, mentoring, technical workshops, and clear development pathways. You may also assist the wider Commercial Surveying & Design team, gaining exposure to traditional surveying tasks like preparing repair scopes, supporting contract administration, and helping manage tendering processes. This provides excellent breadth as part of your structured training and long‑term progression. This role offers a supportive environment, hands‑on training, and the flexibility of a home‑based position with regional travel. The skills you will have when you apply: Full UK Driving Licence: Required for regional site visits. Education & Development Mindset: Degree-level qualification (or working towards one) in surveying, construction, or engineering. We warmly welcome those pursuing or intending to pursue chartership (e.g., MCIOB, MRICS, MICE). Foundational Technical Knowledge: Some awareness of building construction and structural defects is helpful, but full training will be provided. Interest in Claims & Building Pathology: Any exposure to insurance or defect-related work is beneficial, but not essential. Analytical Thinker: Keen to learn how to diagnose defects and develop suitable repair solutions with support. Proactive & Adaptable: Able to work independently when needed, collaborate remotely, and engage confidently with policyholders as part of your development journey.
