Basic Requirements Experience- Experience that demonstrated each of the four competencies below; the experience must be IT-related. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must meet basic qualifications by demonstrating at least (1) one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector. Specialized experience is performing duties such as using information technology concepts, methods, standards and practices to evaluate and resolve hardware and software problems; planning and improving information systems to meet the needs of customer requirements; planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems and applications software; monitoring functionality, security and integrity of internet services; assessing IT policy needs; establishing metrics to measure, and evaluate system performance; troubleshooting end user computer hardware and software issues; maintaining systems accounts with various enterprise software programs; providing for customer training including orientation of new users; maintenance of server and LAN/WAN activities; maintenance and troubleshooting of network problems in various office locations. Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your Department of Justice component has notified you in writing that you are a surplus or displaced employee eligible for CTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your CTAP eligibility, 2) you apply under the instructions in this announcement, and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria.
