The Job: As a Mechanical Engineer III , you'll be part of our Tools & Outdoor team working as an on-site employee. You'll get to: Lead 6-21 months long product development programs using the SBD Phase Gate process by applying critical thinking, analysis and problem solving to design new products based on defined customer CTQs. Provide leadership in design, technical aspects, and project scheduling Prepare feasibility/lean study for proposed ideas of new product development, including competitive research and analysis, product function and features proposal, technical requirements confirmation, project schedule arrangement and budget planning etc. Create working models of new product concepts using 3D CAD software (CATIA or similar) and subsequently build physical prototypes to support product development. Conduct new product development and improvement to existing products by working closely with global product team on product design, 3D modeling, testing and composition of technical documentation. Create and maintain engineering documentation such as BOMs, 2D Drawings, Test Plans, and Specifications. Support R&D projects to keep the process aligned with planned timeline, control the project budget, to achieve all the project goals. Develop new testing equipment and procedures as needed to evaluate product features and design by performing hands-on and robotic testing using standard and custom power tools and procedures. Create and execute sampling, product evaluations and documentation including the writing of product performance specifications and test plans. Analyze test data and make conclusions, determine follow-up actions, and communicate findings to internal or external stakeholders report out/present to the leadership team Collaborate with cross functional teams to continuously improve the product functions, performance, manufacturing process and reduce costs. Support DFMEA and PFMEA sessions and design reviews. Execute on site visits to communicate with customers, sales and service team, to understand demands and provide timely solutions when needed. Support end user and customer research for CTQ evaluation and product acceptance. Support cross-functional teams in product innovation and ideation sessions for the development of solutions that resolve end-user frustrations. Product focus will on a wide range of power tool saw blades and industrial bandsaw blades. The Person: You love to learn and grow and be acknowledged for your valuable contributions. You also have: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 3+ years of related experience in product design or manufacturing 4+ years experiencing of design using 3D/2D CAD (CATIA preferred) with knowledge of GD&T Understanding of cutting tool application and cutting tool material properties. Familiar with design and creation of forged metal parts as well as other metal fabrication processes Familiar with heat treat and tempering processes of metals and experience communicating with manufacturing teams. Practice best time management techniques to ensure project schedules are met; create project schedules and action trackers when necessary Comfortable with hands-on testing and using power tools and being in an industrial environment.
