About the role

This position is located in the Facilities Management Service at the Richmond VA Medical Center in Richmond, VA. The primary purpose of this position is to transport passengers, equipment, supplies and other items essential to the Core Outreach Team (COT). Driver's License Requirement: Must possess a current and valid State issued Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL). (Please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package. You will be required to show your current and valid state driver's license at the time of your interview.) PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Incumbent works in all weather conditions. The duties performed by incumbent consists of moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing in or on vehicles; trailers, cars, or vans to load, unload or tie down material and equipment; may include pushing and pulling carts, and wheel chairs, lifting equipment, supplies, etc.; and driving long hours on trips. Incumbent must be physically sound and have good coordination of eyes, hands, feet, and vision and depth perception. Incumbent must be mentally alert to traffic hazards and dangers of the highway. Incumbent operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or the equivalent), exposed to the danger of serious accidents, heavy traffic, and highway speeds over complicated road and Interchange systems. Incumbent may be exposed to dirt and fumes and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle, Incumbent may also be exposed to patients and linen with all types of diseases, viruses, etc. Incumbent performs other related duties as assigned, which may include snow and ice removal during extreme circumstances or emergency situations. Incumbent will also work in an office setting while maintaining vehicle log and maintenance information. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
