The Control Plane team owns the network control plane protocols for the switches in the Amazon network and is part of the NPD (Network Product Development) team. As a leader in this team, you will dive deep to understand Amazon's network architecture and partner with our routing protocol communities, network engineering, peer software teams and other AWS service teams to develop and operate the control plane software that powers Amazon's network device platforms. You will own the software quality and speed of delivery of all new solutions and identify opportunities to invent and simplify the systems used throughout the AWS network. We are looking for a software leader to lead a team of engineers to realize our vision of delivering and owning the world's fastest and most reliable network. The successful candidate is expected to be a technical manager who can deliver through a high performing engineering team and who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of the software development, deployment, and operational life cycle including: design, development, documentation, testing and operations. You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. Work backwards from customer needs, build and track business metrics by which the team works to improve customer impact Plan, develop, deploy and maintain network control plane protocols, routing stacks, and lifecycle management software for a highly scaled network Recruit, coach and mentor senior and junior software engineers Work with management, customers and adjacent development teams to build state of the art solutions, incorporate new technologies, and algorithms Set quality standards, build mechanisms and processes for team efficiency, continuously inventing and simplifying AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
