Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• All members of the Mechanical Engineering Team are encouraged to continually develop their technical skills within structural, thermal and model driven engineering aspects of Mechanical Engineering.
• This role allows a mixture of on-site and remote working; with attendance at our Basildon facility required when Customer requirements dictate.

Requirements

• You will support, and get support from, senior Peers in the delivery of mechanical solutions and techniques that enable the team to advance the next generation of product.
• Producing Manufacturing Data Packs in line with BS8888, including appropriate use of GD&T.
• Support to successful resolution of technical investigations.
• Contributing to reviews of mechanical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.
• Hands on involvement in practical implementation of development builds and Design of Experiments.
• Providing support during the introduction of new product into the Development/Production lifecycle phase.
• Actively contribute to Work Package delivery elements to achieve desired Quality, Schedule and Cost.
• Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar), or experience in the field of Defence (Airborne, naval, etc) environments. Mechanical engineering for Electronic and/or EO products
• Design of systems for 'harsh environments' i.e. Shock, Vibration, Temperature, EMC, Salt fog, etc.
• Mechanical design and development using 3D CAD tools (ideally PTC Creo).
• Problem solving using a structured, logical approach to investigate issues and problems in an effective manner.
• Understanding Structural and Thermal Analyses data, to inform design decisions.
• Experienced in various aspects of Design for X (DfX), including Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration and Sustainability.

Job Description: Salary Range: £44,171 - £57,000 Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
