Job Posting Title: Waste Reduction Manager Position Type: Professional / Unclassified Department: LSUAM FA - FPO - SEC - Campus Sustainability (Lisa M Mahoney (00075860)) Work Location: 0100 Landscape Services Building Pay Grade: Professional Job Description: The Waste Reduction Manager oversees the University's solid waste, recycling, and resource recovery operations, including the collection, transportation, sorting, processing, and storage of collected materials. The position manages waste and recycling personnel, contracted service providers, operational budgets, and service contracts to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations. Responsibilities include operational performance monitoring, waste diversion and material recovery initiatives, data management and reporting, special event waste services, and continuous improvement of waste and recycling programs. The position works collaboratively with campus stakeholders to integrate resource recovery and waste reduction strategies into daily operations while advancing the University's sustainability and resource management goals. Job Duties: Solid Waste & Recycling Operations Directs and oversees daily waste and recycling operations, including the collection, transportation, sorting, processing and storage of campus generated waste and recyclable materials. Manages all operational requests and service issues related to waste and recycling services. Coordinates with contracted service providers and internal staff to audit container infrastructure, collection schedules and service performance to optimize collection systems and improve resource efficiencies. Develops and implements operational strategies to reduce contamination, increase material recovery, and advance the University's waste diversion goals. -45%. Data Management, Reporting & Program Performance Develops and maintains systems for tracking waste and collections, material weights, contamination rates, landfill diversion metrics, and operational performance indicators. Analyzes trends, and prepares routine reports to support waste management operations. Provides departmental units with waste and recycling data reports to support informed decision-making and resource management. Uses reporting data to further support and improve operational efficiency, increase material recovery and reduce contamination of material streams.- 15% Event Based Operations Reviews and approves event based waste/recycling collections for special event/activity requests being held on outside campus venues in accordance with campus policies, operational standards and sustainability objectives. Collaborates with LSU departments, event organizers, and external vendors to coordinate waste management logistics and support waste diversion efforts. Directs and oversees the deployment, servicing and removal of waste and recycling infrastructure for outside campus events, including oversight of waste management operations for seven annual home football games and other outdoor events that require weekend support.- 15% Financial Oversight Review and reconcile monthly invoices for solid waste and recycling collection operations. Verify service levels and billing accuracy, Prepare internal billings in a timely manner.- 10% Contract Compliance Manage all vendor contracts for waste collection, recycling, and material recovery operations, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, regulatory compliance and operational standards.
