About the role
The Transportation Division is currently seeking a Risk and Contract Manage r for a project located in Chicago, IL. The Commercial Manager will participate with ownership and management in strategic business development and client relationships on a large public transit project in Chicago, IL. Provide strategic guidance on commercial / financial risks and opportunities for the Project. Provide management of day-to-day project commercial issues, finances and/or contracts. Provide support to Project Leader through understanding of contracts, drafting key project correspondence and focusing on how to protect company/project long term interests. Provide feedback to ownership and management regarding the avoidance of pitfalls and lessons learned. Develop strategies to reduce risk in procurement and in performing projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic consultation to avoid claims, company exposure, and develop positions to maximize recovery.
- Understanding and underwriting risk during project execution.
- Gain knowledge and understanding of project finances and accounting and provide strategic guidance reducing risks and maximizing opportunities.
- Master understanding of Owner contract and sub/vendor agreements to keep Project in compliance with contractual provisions and industry standards.
- Gain knowledge and understanding of commercial and operation procedures and suggest improvements as needed.
- Provide management of project controls to ensure all corporate / project processes and procedures are implemented.
- Gain knowledge and understanding of field operations to support the project team as needed and to support the contractual position of the company.
- Expectation and courage to challenge the status quo and seek continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Juris Doctorate degree
- Minimum 6 years' industry experience for Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 4 years' industry experience for Juris Doctorate degree
- Leadership skills and ability to be creative in finding solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet all project deadlines
- Must be a team player and have flexibility/desire to take on numerous tasks
- Assignment may require employees to be located at project site office full time so out of town travel is possible
- Salary $125K - $160K
