Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, scheduling, assignment, and day-to-day oversight of nursing staff and nursing services.

  • Support quality assurance, risk management, corrective action, audits, inspections, and internal compliance monitoring related to nursing and health services operations.
  • Support staffing readiness by maintaining supervision, verifying performance expectations, identifying training needs, and escalating staffing or competency gaps that may affect safe operations.
  • Coordinate with designated points of contact on referrals, off-site appointments, hospitalizations, medications, and continuity-of-care requirements for transfer, release, or removal.
  • Participate in reviews of protocols, workflows, and nursing operations to identify improvement opportunities and support efficient, safe, and contract-compliant patient care.
  • Maintain professional communication and effective working relationships in a multidisciplinary, multicultural, and multilingual environment, using professional interpretation services when needed to support patient communication.
  • Perform duties within the scope of licensure as a Registered Nurse when required to meet operational needs.
  • Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

  • Basic Requirements/Certifications:
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Texas or the ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum six years professional nursing experience.
  • Experience in a detention or correctional healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Education Required:
  • Graduate from a baccalaureate or graduate nursing program for Registered Nurses located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
