Maine Department of Transportation Salary: $84,697.60 - $120,265.60 per year ( Salary Schedule ) Office/Bureau: Finance -Anticipated Vacancy- Opening Date : June 22, 2026 Closing Date: July 10, 2026 Job Description: The Assistant Director of Finance and Administration, in partnership with the Director, provides direction, leadership and management of the financial analysts and other staff in all operational aspects for assigned areas of responsibility to meet the needs of Bureaus in the Department of Transportation. Representative responsibilities for the position include: Manages cash flow and Department-wide capital program - FHWA, FTA, FAA, ensuring the utilization of maximum federal dollars to advise management of available funding to deliver projects. Directs and oversees the Department's fiscal, budgetary and accounting functions to ensure sufficient funds and resources are available to meet program goals and objectives in compliance with State and Federal laws in order to ensure that the Department is meeting its goals while working within all rules/regulations. Works collaboratively to ensure Department goals and objectives are incorporated into the budget and Administration is represented in all ongoing budget processes to make good business relationships. Represents the Commissioner and Department with Federal and State agencies as well as private organization in order to facilitate and provide coordinated delivery of budgetary, accounting, operational and financial services to keep the Department's goals consistent. Develops financial reporting tools to track progress in meeting budget initiatives and evaluate program productivity and accountability for strategic decision making; measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of program delivery to provide the management team with reliable information. Oversight of the Department's stockroom & reprographics operations to ensure that the Department's and customer's needs are met. This includes making sure project plans are available when projects are advertised. Assists the Director in overseeing all financial & budgetary matters for the Department. Acts on behalf of the Bureau Director exercising full authority as delegated to provide coverage in Negotiates TransCap Bond cash flows with the Municipal Bond Bank to make sound investments decisions. Serves as a liaison between the Office of Budget, Controller, and Treasurer to meet all program requirements within Maine State Government. To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience: A Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, directly related field or equivalent, and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in fiscal program management. Experience must include at least two (2) years of supervisory experience over professional and technical staff. Professional financial management may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
