Job Summary The Grant/Policy Writer will be responsible for proposal development and report writing to generate funding to support and enhance the strategic priorities and workforce programs of the Mayor's Office of Employment Development (MOED). Some of our programs include dislocated worker services, youth summer employment, opportunities for disconnected youth, recovery-friendly programs, services for returning citizens, and financial empowerment counseling. Priorities within those programs include workforce system coordination, occupational training, job placement, career navigation, industry partnerships, and apprenticeships. Potential funding sources include local and national foundations, as well as local, state, and national government entities. In addition, the Grant/Policy Writer may be tasked with developing content for a range of programs and administrative briefs, reports, presentations, and other written products. The Grant/Policy Writer will also be a key member of the agency's Grants Management Committee. Work is complex in nature and requires careful attention to detail. Candidates must demonstrate advanced communication and grant writing skills. Assignments will be carried out in accordance with objectives established by MOED's agency leadership. Essential Functions: Grant Prospecting Work with Senior Grant and Policy Manager to research, track, and evaluate potential grant opportunities Develop grant opportunity summaries for review by agency leadership and program teams Proposal Preparation Prepare proposals by determining concept in consultation with agency leadership and program teams Develop proposals by assembling program, budget, and evaluation details, including project nature, objectives, outcomes, deliverables, implementation timetable, staffing, budget, and performance metrics Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for gathering information from program, fiscal, and evaluation teams and for proposal writing, review, approval, and submission Research and identifying funding opportunities to support essential and innovative projects aligning with MOED's mission Grant Reporting Work with program, fiscal, and evaluation teams to gather information necessary to meet all reporting requirements for grants in a complete and timely manner Prepare grant reports and work in concert with MOED's program teams, fiscal team, and Performance and Planning Division to summarize significant findings Maintain current and complete records in electronic file library Policy Writing Prepare written content for agency reports, agency presentations, program materials, and other written products as needed. This might include program presentations to funders, city leaders, or national organizations; program summaries; and/or policy briefs.
