Reporting to the Manager Native Title and Heritage, you will play a key role to support the development and operations of APA Group's projects and assets by contributing technical expertise on Native Title and heritage matters. This role works closely with Traditional Owners, government agencies, and internal project teams to ensure activities comply with Native Title and heritage legislation, uphold cultural obligations, and foster respectful, long‑term relationships with First Nations stakeholders. The Access, Approvals and Geospatial Solutions; Infrastructure Delivery West team is committed to building strong relationships, securing land access and project approvals and fostering positive community outcomes across all stages of project development. We support the delivery of energy infrastructure projects within Western Australia by providing expert services in land access, regulatory planning and approvals. We provide end-to-end land access, environmental, and planning support for all new development projects. Our services span across gas transmission, gas-fired power generation, future fuels, renewable energy, and power transmission infrastructure. Responsibilities
- Build and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with Native Title groups.
- Review project plans and proposed activities to ensure Native Title and heritage considerations are identified and integrated early.
- Ensure engagement processes align with cultural protocols, community expectations, and company values.
- Provide guidance on native title and heritage requirements, including statutory approval obligations for new projects.
- Identify, schedule, and manage all aspects of native title and heritage workstreams for key projects.
- Overseeing specialist consultants, along with supporting power generation and business development roles by providing advice on feasibility, schedule, and cost of potential projects.
- Develop projects to achieve customer and corporate objectives.
- Support Energy Solutions by providing advice on feasibility, schedule, and cost of potential projects across varied business units.
- Your background
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (such as Archaeology, Planning, Environmental Science, Legal, Sustainability, Construction etc).
- Extensive experience in Indigenous relationships, Indigenous engagement and agreement making.
- Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in a similar lead role within renewables, infrastructure, civil construction or power projects sector.
- The ability and willingness to travel to both local and remote project sites.
- Sound analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with strong attention to detail.
- Able to work both independently and part of a cross functional team.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with capacity to influence and negotiate.
- Ability to manage a range of competing priorities and projects to meet deadlines.
- High level conceptual, analytical, and interpretive skills.
