About the role
The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for an experienced and motivated Business Analyst to join the Shared Services Centre team and provide project and continual improvement support to a range of operational procedures across multiple University functions including ICT, HR, Travel and Expenses, Facility Maintenance and general Campus Assist support. The Business Analyst plays a key role in identifying, sourcing, and analysing operational data to support the design and delivery of new and enhanced business solutions. Working closely with stakeholders, the role is responsible for clarifying reporting requirements, business definitions, and operational rules to ensure accurate and effective outcomes. This position builds strong, customer-focused relationships with business users to understand organisational needs, translate requirements into practical and user-friendly solutions, and communicate recommendations clearly and effectively to a wide range of stakeholders. This role supports a hybrid work arrangement where the successful candidate will be expected to be on site 1-2 days per week. Your key responsibilities will be to: gather and document business and technical requirements for the development of operational reports on Sydney Student data build and manage client/user relationships in order to present and gain acceptance of proposals and solutions. conduct UAT sessions with the business users and work with BI specialists and BI report developers to satisfactorily resolve any issues define data validation and reconciliation requirements, rules and procedures work with people in cross-functional teams to deliver the best solution for the users establish effective, customer focused working relationships with business users to work proactively in identifying requirements, developing user friendly solutions, effectively communicating and presenting those, and working with other cross functional team members to trouble shoot and solve problems. About you an equivalent combination of training and experience demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately with attention to detail demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop effective, customer focused working relationships excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, MS Word and a range of Software Applications sound understanding of SQL and other queries or reporting languages experience as a Business Analyst or a similar role using Sydney Student or other Student Administration package experience designing reports using OBIEE or similar BI reporting tool experience in the evaluation, implementation and management of changes to business practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
