Responsibilities
- Maintaining a safe working environment at all times
- Following all safety controls related to Covid including regular handwashing, proper use of PPE and enhanced cleaning/sanitation requirements
- Providing excellent and consistent service for all guests using the KDR facilities
- Maintaining a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift
- Cleaning and maintaining all areas within the KDR complex on a daily basis - lunchrooms, dining room, servery, ware wash area, main kitchen, and storage areas This includes but is not limited to; cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces, counters, tables, chairs, and equipment
- In addition, General Helpers may be assigned to perform routine cleaning and sanitation of high touchpoint areas and items as per required Covid protocols
- Regular sweeping and mopping of all floors in the KDR, including walk-in coolers and storage areas
- Stocking of all needed food, beverage and paper/disposable supplies as required
- Disposing of all garbage, cardboard and recyclables as required
- Ware Washing Removing all used flatware and cutlery to ware wash area
- Washing of all items including dishes, cutlery, pots, etc.
- Returning all washed items to proper storage locations
- Completing all HACCP logs as required
- Monitoring that all products put out for service is correctly labelled, dated and rotated
- Completing all weekly and monthly cleaning tasks as scheduled
- Assisting in food production as required
- Receiving and storing all supplies (food, beverage, chemical and paper/disposable), as directed by production staff
- Assisting with any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

- Large-scale kitchen assisting in camp settings, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strong asset
- Current Food Safe certification is an asset
- Ability to commit to a 3 week on/ 3 week off rotation
- A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction
- Ability to prioritize multiple task demands and organize a work schedule
- Ability to pass the Drug and Alcohol and Health Assessment is required
- Must be able to clear a Criminal Background Check
- Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site
- Ability to handle the following physical demands: Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders or stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
- Perform work with arms at full length
- Work with arms above shoulder height

WHAT'S THE JOB? The General Helper position is critical to the success of the culinary team. In a kitchen support role, the G.H. works a variety of shifts throughout the day and acts as the fuel that keeps the kitchen running smoothly. Kitchen support workers will complete various tasks throughout the day based on their shift schedule and time of day. General Helpers may work split shifts, night shifts, early mornings, and late nights, depending on the kitchen schedule.
