About the role
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Warehouse Assistant to join our Warehouse and Distribution team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of the warehouse by supporting stock receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and inventory control activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring stock accuracy, maintaining warehouse standards, and supporting the timely delivery of products to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Process picking slips and customer orders within agreed turnaround times.
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Deliver picked stock to the dispatch area promptly.
- Verify product codes, quantities, and order requirements before dispatch.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment.
- Ensure bins, shelves, and stock locations are labelled accurately.
- Handle stock carefully to minimise damages and stock wastage.
- Identify and report damaged stock and assist with stock adjustments.
- Assist with quarterly cycle counts and annual stock take activities.
- Check incoming stock and verify quantities against delivery documentation.
- Label pallets and stock accurately and ensure correct storage.
- Verify stock locations and support inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Assist with packing and dispatch activities when required.
- Support general warehouse operations and administrative activities as required.
- Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- Essential
- Matric/O-Level Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- 1-2 years' experience in a warehouse, stores, logistics, or distribution environment.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with stock control processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling duties.
- Willingness to work overtime when operational requirements demand.
- Desirable
- Experience using inventory management or warehouse systems.
- Exposure to stock counting and inventory control activities.
- Experience working within a publishing, education, FMCG, or distribution environment.
- Knowledge of warehouse health and safety procedures.
