Co-opted Member of Council Co-opted Members of Council Closing Date : 20 July 2026 Co-opted Member Non-Executive Director (Member of Council) We are seeking Co-opted Members to apply, our co-opted members do not have to be an Industrial or Professional Member of TWI. The ideal candidate/s will ideally have a background in at least one the following areas gained at a senior level. Training or Certification Experience within organisations responsible for professional training, skills development or certification. This may include oversight of accredited training programmes, competency frameworks, assessment methodologies, or the development of industry recognised qualifications. Candidates would ideally bring insight into regulatory requirements and the evolving needs of industry in relation to workforce capability, including apprenticeships, professional development pathways, and certification schemes. Research and Technology Organisations Experience gained within a Research and Technology Organisation or similar environment, with exposure to applied research, innovation delivery, or technology transfer. This may include leading research programmes, commercialising research outputs, or working in collaboration with industry, academia, or government. Candidates should bring an understanding of how research translates into industrial impact, including funding models, partnerships, and the strategic positioning of RTOs. Candidates should bring strong sector knowledge and the ability to provide strategic insight aligned to TWI's core activities. This should include an understanding of skills development frameworks, professional accreditation or certification pathways, and the evolving landscape of applied research and technology transfer. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to strategic discussions on capability development, commercial growth, and the strengthening of TWI's position as a leading independent research and technology organisation, whilst providing constructive challenge and governance oversight at Council level. The TWI governing body, known as Council (comprising of Non-Executive Directors), assists with the oversight and governance of the business through working in collaboration with the Chief Executive and an Executive Board. To be successful you ideally will have board or senior management experience, a strong understanding of good corporate governance and an ability to scrutinise and challenge company performance. This is a non-remunerated role and requires a time commitment of up to eight days per annum however, reasonable expenses will be paid for attending meetings. Travel : Council-related activities typically require around 8 days of engagement per year, which may include attending meetings in Cambridge. While these meetings can be joined remotely, we encourage in-person attendance where possible to support collaboration. Please note that the overall time commitment may vary depending on individual involvement in Council responsibilities beyond formal meetings.
