THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1807000 and is part of the HI 297 CAOS, National Guard. LOCATION: 297th Combat Airfield Operations Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, Kalaeloa, Hawaii QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: If your resume does not include a narrative description of how you meet the GENERAL, SPECIALIZED experiences, and OTHER requirements, you may lose consideration for this position. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months of experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort involves stooping, bending, stretching, standing, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion including pushing and shoving of wheeled AGE. Lifts heavy equipment and components weighing up to 40 pounds and, with assistance, lifts items weighing over 40 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet and slippery surfaces and work areas, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from toxic fumes, oil, heat, fluids, shock, high noise level, possible cuts, abrasions and burns, extremely low temperature cryogenic liquids and extremely high air pressures while repairing, adjusting, positioning, or moving equipment. Works with high voltage electrical power and must come in contact with petroleum products. Incumbent works on equipment parts that are dirty and greasy and may be dangerous to operate or repair because of defects. Follows safety procedures and wears protective equipment that may be uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Other Requirements - For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. NOTES TO CANDIDATES: a.
