Engineering Chargehand

About the role

You will play a vital role in the day-to-day performance of the depot by leading engineering activity and ensuring all maintenance and repair work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Key responsibilities include: Leading, supporting, and motivating a team of engineers and fitters Carrying out diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on PCV vehicles Allocating work and monitoring performance against safety, quality, and service targets Ensuring full compliance with DVSA, Health & Safety, and Arriva standards Maintaining accurate maintenance records and depot systems Supporting the Engineering Manager with training, mentoring, and apprentice development

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Previous experience in a Chargehand, Supervisory, or Senior Technician role
• Strong knowledge of PCV or HGV mechanical systems
• Confident communicator with proven leadership capability
• Flexible approach to working hours, including early, late, and weekend shifts
• PCV license desirable, but not essential
