Provide technical leadership and delivery support as a Principal Flood Modeller , contributing to complex flood modelling, stormwater, and water infrastructure projects across Auckland and New Zealand. You will apply your hydraulic and hydrological modelling expertise across catchment analysis, flood assessments, and infrastructure design support while working closely with project managers, civil engineers, and multidisciplinary teams. Based in Auckland, this role offers the opportunity to work on catchment-scale flood modelling and stormwater infrastructure projects while developing client relationships, mentoring team members, and contributing to business growth. You will play a key role in delivering robust, data-driven flood-modeling outcomes that support resilient infrastructure and sustainable urban development. You'll work on complex flood and stormwater systems including urban catchments, pipelines, drainage networks, and associated infrastructure, contributing to projects that improve flood resilience and community safety across New Zealand. Lead and deliver catchment-scale flood modelling, rainfall and event analysis, and flood level assessments to support resilient infrastructure design Provide flood level outputs to inform civil design, including floor levels, site levels, and development controls Undertake hydraulic and flow analysis across catchments, pipelines, stormwater networks, and related infrastructure systems Apply and interpret results from physical infrastructure such as catch pits, manholes, pipelines, and wider stormwater systems Collaborate with civil and infrastructure teams to review designs, re-run models, and test engineering improvements Assess the impact of design changes on flood behaviour and overall infrastructure performance outcomes Deliver modelling projects using industry tools such as InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS Build and maintain strong client relationships, provide technical advice, and support business development opportunities Mentor and support junior staff while contributing to knowledge sharing across local, national, and global teams. Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or similar 10+ years' experience in flood modelling, stormwater, or water resources engineering Strong experience using hydraulic and hydrological modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, and HEC-RAS Experience in catchment modelling, flood estimation, and stormwater system analysis Ideally holding, or working towards, Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent Strong technical problem-solving skills in complex flood and water infrastructure environments Ability to interpret and communicate modelling results to inform engineering design and planning decisions Strong client relationship and stakeholder engagement skills Knowledge of New Zealand stormwater and flood management practices, standards, and council requirements Commercial awareness within a consulting project delivery environment Why you'll love working with us Flexible work arrangements available, aligned with the market and client facing role requirements Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year Volunteer and representation leave Flex public holidays - swap Easter or other holidays for ones that suit you better Ready to push the limits of what's possible?
