Job Description Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a reliable Animal Attendant to support daily operations in the Equine and Nemo Farm Animal Hospital. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and biosecure environment while assisting with basic animal care. You'll work closely with clinicians, students, and staff to keep hospital spaces running smoothly. Responsibilities Include but are not Limited To: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation across all equine and farm animal hospital areas, including wards, ICU, isolation, and surgical spaces Provide basic animal care as directed, including bedding, feeding, watering, grooming, and stall upkeep Safely remove and transport biohazardous waste while strictly following infection control and containment protocols Operate hospital equipment and machinery and communicate effectively with clinicians, students, supervisors, and coworkers Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent At least six months experience, including direct working experience with large animals (horses, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas, and/or llamas, etc). Must possess a valid driver's license. Knowledge of or have the capacity to learn basic infection control practices. Must have the ability to meet the physical demands of the position, which include, but are not limited to, stressful situations, prolonged standing and kneeling, and assisting with patients which may exceed 50 pounds. Ability to maintain clear communication with a variety of stakeholders including students, Vet Techs, clinicians, and clients
