About the role
This position specification establishes the global mandate, core competencies, and strategic governance model for the executive leader of the Ford Business Unit Global Quality Organization. Operating at a global enterprise level, this role is directly accountable for safeguarding Adient's commercial position, optimizing the total cost of quality, leading cross-regional execution across all manufacturing footprints and reports to the Ford BU VP.
Responsibilities
- The Global Quality Director will develop comprehensive, proactive 3-year global quality strategy that will deliver year-over-year improvements in current model, future model quality, warranty performance and cost of quality. Must be aligned across all regions & tied to Global Business Plan
- Develop global business unit score card, which reports quality, launch and warranty status by region, plant & program and report minimum monthly
- Develop aggressive monthly, quarterly and annual predictive quality metrics & performance objectives, deploy globally
- Develop 3-year quality training & development plan for effected quality persons, tied to employee performance
- Mitigate risk of any off-track quality metrics/deliverables with the execution of appropriate corrective action plans and glide paths
- Develop prevent recurrence strategy, ensuring executive review all systemic learnings and engrain in quality processes globally
- Develop time and data management process that proactively communicates status and plans to leadership
- Review and approve Advanced Quality Planning and Program Quality Deliverables
- Actively participate in Program Reviews, and Phase Exit Reviews, as well as Line Certifications in alignment with program timing.
- Ensure successful implementation of Adient Quality Systems and continued certification to / compliance with IATF 16949, including customer specific requirements
- Develop and execute Annual Employee Development Plans, Performance Reviews, and succession plans for each AQE or AQM in the Business Unit, aligned with each region
- Actively participate in the quoting process to ensure that the appropriate quality equipment, processes, resources and objectives are considered prior to receiving the business award
- Support Supplier Management Quality Reviews (i.e. MQR 1, 2, 3) in accordance with the Adient MQR Work Instruction
- EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical area required (or equivalent experience). Master's degree Preferred.
- Specific education and training in Quality disciplines including IATF 16949, VDA, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, SPC, 8D & APQP
Requirements
- Min 8 years of people development and leadership experience
- Previous experience leading complex quality organizations
- Previous experience in developing global quality strategies
- Proficient in Advanced Quality Planning, Control Plans, FMEA, PPAP, Dimensional layouts, gage/fixture design, SPC, and Performance/Material testing
- Advanced knowledge of statistical concepts, design of experiments, and advanced problem-solving methodologies
- Certified in Six Sigma is preferred
- Professional Certification in Quality Engineering/Quality Management preferred
