Description of Work Reporting to the Associate Warden for Custody, this position provides supervision of subordinate staff, is responsible for the custody and security of the facility, and the safety of the general public. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Ensuring that all custody staff assigned to the facility are physically and mentally capable of assuming a duty post. - Providing daily inspections of offender living, medical, and kitchen areas. - Ensuring weapons and other security equipment are inspected and in good working condition. - Supervising daily counts, reviewing staffing needs and Standard Operating Procedures to make suggestions for revisions, as needed. - Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. - Conducting investigations and serving as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC), as required. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $45,431 - $79,504 This job posting will close at 11:59 pm, the night before the end date listed above. Knowledge of facility operations. Knowledge of Prisons' policy and procedures. Documented report writing skills. Necessary Special Qualifications : MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission. To be considered for a Correctional Captain II position, ALL applicants must : Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302) Pass a criminal background check Produce a negative drug screening result Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations Possess a valid driver's license Required Adverse Weather Reporting : This position is designated as "Mandatory" and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits . About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel. About Albemarle Correctional Institution: Albemarle Correctional Institution is located in Badin, North Carolina and houses up to 856 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
