Painter

About the role

We are looking for a Painter & Decorator to join JDI's directly employed and self-employed teams. You will work on exterior renovation from scaffold and on internal common parts and domestic redecoration - mostly on period buildings and mansion blocks around London. This is skilled decorating, not rolling magnolia: preparation and finish are what the client is paying for, and what we will judge the work on.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of walls, ceilings and all timber surfaces to a standard that carries the finish.
• External renovation: woodwork, masonry and metalwork, working safely from scaffold.
• Filling (Toupret), glazing, putty work with Dryseal, and minor window care.
• High-quality finishing in eggshell, emulsion, stain, varnish and gloss.
• Internal redecoration, wallpaper and lining paper hanging.
• Keeping the work area clean and clearing up properly at the end of each day.

Requirements

• Painting & Decorating NVQ (Level 2 minimum).
• CSCS card - blue (Skilled Worker) as a minimum.
• At least 5 years' experience on period exterior buildings and common parts.
• Confident and safe working from scaffold.
• Your own professional tools for the trade.
• Full PPE, good spoken English, and clear communication on site.
