About the role

Our client is an established non-profit early childhood centre in Ang Mo Kio. They are looking for an L2 English Teacher to support K1 and K2 children in a warm, respectful, and child-centred preschool environment. This role suits an educator who enjoys kindergarten teaching and is confident in supporting English language development, phonics, literacy readiness, classroom routines, and age-appropriate learning experiences. The centre is community-based, mission-driven, and inspired by child-centred learning. It values patience, emotional security, respect, calm communication, and responsive teaching. This is not a highly commercial chain environment. It may suit someone who prefers meaningful preschool work, steady relationships with children, and a centre culture that focuses on care, inclusion, and learning through daily interactions. The successful candidate will work closely with centre leaders, fellow educators, children, and parents to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for K1 and K2 children.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct age-appropriate English lessons for K1 and K2 children
  • Support children's English literacy, phonics, pre-reading, and pre-writing development
  • Create meaningful learning experiences through stories, songs, discussions, play, projects, and hands-on activities
  • Support children's social, emotional, language, and cognitive development
  • Manage classroom routines, transitions, behaviour, and daily learning activities
  • Observe and document children's learning, development, behaviour, and progress
  • Prepare lesson plans, classroom materials, learning corners, and teaching resources
  • Build warm, respectful, and responsive relationships with children
  • Communicate professionally with parents on children's progress and well-being when required
  • Work closely with other teachers and centre staff to support curriculum delivery and classroom operations
  • Maintain a safe, clean, calm, and organised classroom environment
  • Follow centre policies, routines, child safety practices, and child-management guidelines
  • Support school events, open house activities, or training sessions when required

Requirements

  • ECDA L2 English certification is required
  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education, or relevant ECDA-recognised qualification
  • Prior experience teaching K1 and/or K2 children is preferred
  • Comfortable supporting English literacy, phonics, pre-reading, and pre-writing development
  • Able to plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons for kindergarten children
  • Strong classroom management, routine management, and child observation skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with children, colleagues, and parents
  • Patient, calm, reliable, hands-on, and emotionally steady around young children
  • Comfortable working in a full-time on-site preschool environment
  • Able to work rostered shifts within the centre's operating hours
  • Comfortable working in Ang Mo Kio
  • Successful candidate may be required to complete relevant declarations or checks in line with centre requirements
  • WORKING ARRANGEMENT
  • Full-time on-site role
  • Mainly Monday to Friday
  • Rostered shifts within the centre's operating hours, generally between 7am and 7pm
  • No regular Saturday shifts
  • May be required to support school events, open house activities, or training sessions when needed
  • Main deployment will be with K1 and K2 children

  • This role may not suit someone who wants only a highly structured chain-school environment, or someone who is uncomfortable with the practical realities of a community-based preschool setting.
