About the role
As an Emergency & Critical Care Veterinarian, you will work at the forefront of after-hours and emergency medicine triaging and stabilising critically ill patients, managing complex cases, and liaising with specialist colleagues to optimise outcomes. Responsibilities
- Triage, stabilise and manage emergency and critically ill patients
- Perform emergency procedures including resuscitation, thoracocentesis, catheter placement, and emergency anaesthesia
- Oversee ICU patients, monitor, reassess and adjust care plans with precision
- Collaborate with on-call specialists to ensure appropriate escalation and continuity of care
- Communicate effectively with distressed clients under time-sensitive conditions
- Contribute to ECC case reviews, team debriefs, and clinical education initiatives
- About You
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as a veterinarian in the ACT
- 2+ years post-graduate experience with meaningful emergency and critical care exposure
- Calm under pressure with strong clinical decision-making in high-acuity scenarios
- Confident performing emergency procedures with a methodical, evidence-based approach
- A clear, empathetic communicator - able to guide families through stressful situations
- Team-oriented, curious, and committed to continuous professional growth

- Full in-house laboratory (CBC, biochemistry, blood gas, coagulation, SediVue)
- Advanced imaging: digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, 64-slice CT, and high-field MRI
- Three surgical suites available for emergency procedures
