Job Posting Title: WAE - Research Associate 1 Position Type: Wages as Earned (Fixed Term) Department: LSUAM VetMed - PBS - Immunology (Weishan Huang (00051894)) Work Location: Veterinary Medicine Pay Grade: Temporary Job Description: The WAE RA1 employee will perform animal health monitoring, tissue sample collection, DNA sample extraction, genotyping by PCR and flow cytometry, and phenotype analysis. The goal of the overall research project is to understand molecular and cellular immune regulatory mechanism during microbial infection and the role of microbiota in inflamamtion. Job Responsibilities: 75% - Learn and assist in lab techniques under the direction of the PI, utilizing molecular biology and animal science (PCR, molecular cloning, cell isolation and analysis, animal handling) to study immune responses to symbiotic and pathogenic microbes. 20% - Assist in major projects led by graduate students and postdoctoral scientists in the lab, including sample processing, data recording, ordering, inventory, housekeeping, and other relevance research assistance. 5% - Other duties as assigned by the PI.
