Lyten is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a strong desire to contribute and grow in a demanding environment. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, controlling, and optimizing industrial processes and equipment, specifically related to pouch cell assembly. The Engineer will develop and execute experimental programs and operations plans to meet production targets. Job Responsibilities: Process Ownership & Maturation: Develop, document, and stabilize assembly processes specifically for pouch cell manufacturing, taking ownership of a shifting and evolving pilot line environment. Sustaining & Optimization: Actively monitor equipment performance, analyze process workflows, and introduce continuous improvements to increase yield and throughput on the existing line. Data-Driven Troubleshooting: Create, plan, and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs) to understand the assembly processing window. Utilize production data to systematically troubleshoot and resolve complex process and equipment issues. Adaptability to the Unknown: Comfortable operating in "grey areas" where documentation or processes might be incomplete; proactively drive clarity and establish control where it doesn't yet exist. Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with R&D, sourcing, and production teams to align day-to-day pilot line operations with development schedules and cell integration targets. Help do develop junior engineers in engineering methods. Documentation: Develop and iterate detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), control plans, and specification requirements as the pouch cell assembly process matures. Vendor Support (As Needed): interface with equipment suppliers as required to resolve deep technical issues. Reporting & Justification: Provide regular updates to engineering leadership regarding equipment states. Use data and experimental results to justify and recommend modifications or upgrades. Safety & Compliance: Conduct equipment risk assessments (e.g., FMEAs) and strictly adhere to safety regulations and internal company policies. Required Qualifications: BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Typically, 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing, pilot, or scale-up environment. Minimum of 2 years working with battery cell stacking, notching, and/or assembly equipment. Proficient in CAD design, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis. Demonstrable track record of solving complex process engineering issues. A strong desire to learn, high adaptability to a fast-paced "pilot line" environment, and a comfortable attitude toward working with evolving, less-mature systems. Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, statistical concepts, and proficiency with data tools (Excel, MATLAB, JMP, Minitab, etc.) Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly document processes and present findings to the team. Expected to travel Physical & Mental Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand and use a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs. No physical limitations to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when required. Must collaborate and work well with other team members. Must be able to occasionally work in a dry room setting. Compensations Range: The expected base salary range for this position is between $128,200.00 - $192,400.00 The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.
