  • Performs and documents in the medical record a complete history and physical examination for acute and complex chronically ill patients.

Organization: VPEC Job Summary: The nurse practitioner (NP) within the acute care hospital setting works in collaboration with, and is an integral member of, a multidisciplinary health care team. The NP functions primarily as a hospitalist in an inpatient setting, managing the care of acute/complex chronically ill patients. The NP is typically on a service aligned team managing the patient care from step down to discharge. The NP may have responsibilities for same patient population during follow up outpatient visits. The NP has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice/education and provides an environment of safe quality care. The NP demonstrates an advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. . Outpatient Position Hours: PRN (As Needed) Department Summary: The Vanderbilt Perioperative Clinic is located at Vanderbilt Health at One Hundred Oaks, 719 Thompson Lane Suite 21100 Nashville, TN 37204. We provide preoperative anesthetic evaluations for individuals undergoing elective surgery for the adult population. We are looking for highly motivated individuals that would like to join a growing clinic. Our excellent, patient centered care is directed and/or delivered by a collaborative team made up of Attending Anesthesiologist's, Resident Physicians and Nurse Practitioners. The Leadership Team is comprised of a Medical Director, Administrative Director, Clinic Manager, a lead Clinical NP. Clinic staff members include Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Services Representatives. Various support resources are also available, such as, social work, referral specialists, laboratory and radiology. We are committed to providing excellent service to our patients and a supportive and caring work environment for our staff. Each patient's plan of care is initiated by the APP and supported by registered nurses and support staff. The leadership team is comprised of a medical director (who is also the APP collaborative physician), nursing director, and clinic manager. Clinic support staff is comprised of medical assistants and patient service specialists. The Hi- RiSE clinic shares a unique relationship with the Vanderbilt Preoperative Evaluation Clinic (VPEC) and team members are cross trained to work within both clinic systems. Various interventions and resources are utilized for patient care including laboratory testing, imaging, prescription of medications, collaboration with primary care provider , and medical specialty clinic referrals and testing.
