Additional Information

At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. Our team is responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructures for Office, POP, and Azure Cloud. We ensure seamless connectivity, security, and reliability within campus and across global data center networks. To maintain this network, we are responsible for architecting, designing, deploying, and maintaining robust IDF/MDF network, power, and low-voltage infrastructure across our office, data center, and multi-site environments. We ensure consistent, standards-compliant connectivity, power resilience, and operational readiness within campus and across global facility networks. We are seeking a Senior IDF Engineer to join a dynamic infrastructure group and drive the design, deployment, migration, and standardization of Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) and Main Distribution Frame (MDF) environments. The role involves owning IDF/MDF buildout standards, executing large-scale network and power migrations, managing vendors and procurement, and providing technical leadership within the network infrastructure team. Come join us and learn from the best while transforming your career. RESPONSIBILITIES:- IDF/MDF Design & Standards: Own the design, buildout, and standardization of IDF/MDF rooms, rack elevations, and patch panel layouts across the portfolio. Define and maintain IDF/MDF deployment standards, runbooks, and quality gates; enforce consistency across sites and markets. Serve as senior technical point of contact for IDF/MDF design reviews, escalations, and operational turnover. Installation & Migration: Lead rack-and-stack of network devices including Cisco switches and wireless access points (WAPs). Plan and execute network migration activities and cutovers per project plans, schedules, and runbooks. Direct switch deployment, replacement, connectivity testing, and infrastructure validation. Power & PDU Management: Specify, install, configure, and maintain rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs) - metered, switched, and intelligent/managed. Plan rack power budgets, per-circuit load balancing, and A/B redundancy; coordinate breaker sizing, receptacle types (L6-30/L6-20, IEC C13/C19), and three-phase distribution. Manage UPS, ATS, and generator dependencies; monitor power, branch-circuit metering, and thermal conditions via intelligent PDU/DCIM and own per-rack/site capacity tracking. Structured Cabling & Low-Voltage Systems: Oversee structured cabling, patching, labeling, and cable management to BICSI/ANSI-TIA standards. Support wireless, telecom, CCTV, access control, and LAN/WAN infrastructure from planning through operational turnover. Review construction progress and low-voltage installs for quality, standards compliance, and readiness. Configuration, Optimization & Troubleshooting: Perform and review Cisco IOS configuration and verification tasks. Lead troubleshooting of network connectivity, power, and hardware issues during migration and maintenance windows. Conduct site surveys and infrastructure/power assessments; identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement. Vendor Management & Procurement: Own coordination with vendors, carriers, and electrical contractors; lead vendor business reviews, SLAs, and escalation management. Lead bill-of-material (BOM) creation, purchase order (PO) creation and management, and equipment tracking. Drive cost estimation, budgeting, power capacity sizing, and value-engineering recommendations. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain rack elevations, cable/power schedules, drawings, inventories, and turnover packages. Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, procedures, and deployment guidelines for knowledge transfer. Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers and field technicians in IDF/MDF and power best practices. Influence infrastructure decisions, focusing on standardization, safety, and operational excellence.
