About the role
The Data Engineer is part of the Central Factory Automation Group of Nexperia supporting all Back End sites. The role is responsible for enabling analytics and data-driven decision-making across manufacturing operations. This includes curating data in the data lake, building and maintaining data pipelines, and supporting BI and data science teams with reliable, well-structured data. The Data Engineer integrates data from multiple source systems and ensures proper documentation such as pipeline design specifications, data flow diagrams, and related technical documentation. The role also focuses on developing scalable, reusable, and high-performance data engineering frameworks aligned with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Understand factory operations, manufacturing processes, data availability, and identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify data-driven solutions
- Define required data sets and work with connectivity engineers and stakeholders to acquire data
- Design, build, and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
- Develop and manage large, complex datasets aligned with functional and non-functional business requirements
- Identify and implement process improvements, including automation and optimization of data delivery
- Perform data preparation and deep data analysis to support understanding of machine and process behavior
- Deploy, monitor, and continuously improve data solutions
- Work with data and analytics experts to enhance system functionality
- Collaborate with Data Architects and Data Modeling teams across Nexperia Back End sites
Requirements
- Graduate Engineer, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 4-8 years of experience in Data Engineering or related field
- Strong experience in manufacturing or industrial environment (preferred)
- Experience in building and optimizing data pipelines and data lake architectures
- Strong analytical skills working with unstructured and complex datasets
- Knowledge of big data tools such as Spark, Delta, CDC, NiFi, Kafka, etc.
- Strong SQL and NoSQL skills (Oracle, Hive, Spark SQL, etc.)
- Programming experience in Python, Scala, Java, or C++
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Strong skills in data wrangling, data mining, and data transformation
- Knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and scalable data systems
- Ability to design scalable data structures, pipelines, and frameworks
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and optimization skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional and multicultural teams
- Self-motivated, structured, and results-driven with strong delivery discipline
