About the role

The Physio therapist (PT) provides assessment, treatment, and ongoing evaluation of residents with complex mental health, cognitive, and physical conditions. Responsibilities

  • Assess and reassess residents to identify physical, cognitive, and behavioral factors affecting mobility, function, and participation.
  • Develop and implement individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans integrating physical rehabilitation and mental health needs.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions that promote safe mobility, functional independence, and behavioral regulation using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (nursing, physicians, mental health clinicians, recreation, and physicians) to ensure coordinated care.
  • Recommend and implement adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and mobility strategies to enhance safety and function.
  • Participate in care conferences, behavior support planning, and interdisciplinary rounds to support resident-centered outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, outcome tracking, and required reporting in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Support staff education, coaching, and supervision related to safe mobility techniques, therapeutic approaches, and behavioral support strategies.
  • What You Bring
  • Graduate of an approved Canadian Physiotherapy program.
  • Active registration and good standing with the Alberta College of Physiotherapists.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, dementia, or complex behavioral needs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care approaches is an asset.
  • Experience with MDS/RAI assessments and familiarity with LTC or supportive living environments is preferred.
  • AADL Authorizer status and strong interdisciplinary collaboration, communication, and clinical reasoning skills are considered assets.
