About the role
Key Role Responsibilities The Shipping Analyst will be a key member of the fundamentals team within JERAGM, focusing on trading LNG and the interlink with the shipping market. The individual will play a key part in the analysis supporting JERAGM's physical and financial LNG traders and charterers. The goal of this role is to bring the insights on what drives charter rates and what indicators are important to have as key alerts for a change in charter rate pricing vs implied market pricing. The role of the analyst will be to build and update models to gain market views and advice the traders with trade ideas. A key element of the role is to have a forward view and provide advice on the main drivers and the latest market development. The analyst will also coordinate closely with other members in a collaborative and open manner, create high level overview presentations for senior management and the wider business community as well as to draft weekly and monthly reports in which the latest drivers are clearly communicated. Job Description Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of LNG shipping markets, including interactions with LNG market pricing, to support market analysis and trader insights. Design and build analytical tools to support LNG shipping insights, with a focus on what drives the charter rates. Utilize Econometrics, Power BI, Databricks, Python, and spreadsheet modelling experience in analysis. Python experience is a must. Gain insights from ship-tracking and keeping our models up to date so they can be used by other analysts and teams. Buildknow-how of what counterparties are doing based upon ship-tracking and chartering insights. Use Ship-tracking to build indicators to what is driving in the shipping market (e.g. unexpected delays in loadings) Assist senior analyst in being back-up to assist in what drives the LNG markets behind the regas terminals, analyze key drivers, and provide insights to support the physical and financial traders on how the LNG market trades and how it interacts with (Asian) Gas markets. Work closely with traders to explain market views and advice the traders on how the TTF market is going to behave. Support strategic businessdecisions by communicating the impact of our analysis Build longer term chartering viewson likely market trends. Assisting the business with contract renegotiations and origination deals when required Generate trade ideas and back these up with analytics. Share insights on wider gas and relevant commodity markets and understanding their impacts on our views and positions. Liaise with our data engineers so that a more systematic approach to modelling is possible - especially considering probabilistic and multivariable regression models. Contribute to projects such as DMP to enhance trading strategies using advanced technologies, focusing on factors driving gas markets daily and market prices before settlement. Qualifications and Experience Requirements Master's degree in a highly numerate subject least 5 years' relevant experience in a shipping analyst role in a trading, consulting or broking environment. Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; excellent Power BI, Excel, Python and modelling skills Proven experience in modelling chartering drivers for ST and LT charter rates. Good understanding in logistical optimisation and how LNG Is trading between basins Commercial thinking and ability to see opportunities in data and in trends. Solid understanding of infrastructure projects and implementation. Keen to enhance view on LNG and European Gas markets and the interaction with other fuels like Coal and Oil. Worked in a trading environment and has experience in generating trade ideas and being able to back these up with proper analytics. Has proven track record to build regression models and use the latest technology to enhance our insights in a quicker more insight full way (eg. AI) Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
