Position Description The McGill University School of Physical and Occupational Therapy in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Faculty Lecturer (Professional). The successful candidate will serve as the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) for the Physical Therapy program. This will be a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, is well known for its research excellence in rehabilitation science and the professional education of occupational therapists and physiotherapists. The School established the first doctoral program in Rehabilitation Science in Canada in 1988, and has provided high-quality education to graduate students from diverse, multidisciplinary backgrounds. The School has been admitting students to its Master's entry-level professional programs in OT and PT since the fall of 2007. Job Duties The successful candidate will be actively involved in the academic activities of the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy and its clinical partners. Tasks directly associated with these duties include: Preparing students for clinical placements. Developing and delivering preparatory clinical seminars. Ensuring students have required prerequisites prior to starting the clinical courses (i.e., immunization, and First Aid/CPR training, etc.). Organizing and supporting approximately 250 - 300 student placements each year (~70-75 for each of the four clinical practicum courses). Maintaining and developing partnerships with clinical sites to ensure adequate placement capacity and student learning needs. Matching students to clinical placements, ensuring they will meet program requirements with respect to areas of practice and practice settings. Providing support to students and clinical educators during clinical placements; mediating and/or intervening when there are performance issues. Reviewing student clinical course evaluations to assign a letter grade. Ensuring students obtain all clinical education requirements and maintaining statistics required for ongoing program accreditation by: reviewing student clinical experience documents. tracking student experiences on a cohort profile tracking spreadsheet. Maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of clinical education data for site payments during each placement period. Reviewing the SPOT clinical education website for accuracy; identifying required updates for course outlines and other public-facing information related to clinical education. Liaising with l'Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ) for all matters related to student clinical placements. Liaising with counterparts from other Canadian PT programs, and international clinical sites/programs, to organize and support clinical placements: for McGill students completing placements away from McGill's partnered clinics. for students from other programs completing placements in McGill-partnered clinics. Organizing and running the McGill Physical Therapy Clinical Advisory Committee (chaired by the ACCE) Bi-annual meetings with clinical site coordinators and partners to review and coordinate potential adjustments to clinical placement administration. Developing and delivering workshops and webinars for physical therapists (clinical educators) who supervise McGill students in their clinical placements. The incumbent will also be participating in meetings of the National Association for Clinical Education Physical therapy (NACEP) and initiatives put forward by this organization. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill's academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, if applicable, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).
