Job Summary Student Health and Wellbeing (SHW) provides students at the Point Grey campus a wide range of health services with a care team of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists, counsellors, social workers, nurses and other specialists. The Senior Manager, Operations is a member of the administrative leadership team of SHW and specifically ensures the effective and student-centric delivery of business operations within multiple busy, collaborative, and integrated health service locations. The Senior Manager, Operations directs a wide range of functions across Counselling Services and Student Health Service. The incumbent manages and drives improvements in administration with a focus on operational excellence, student service, provider support, planning and procurement, and process reviews. The incumbent collaborates with students, providers, and staff to provide direction and leads in the areas of service delivery, people management, facilities management, and information systems related to student electronic health records. The Senior Manager, Operations manages and provides leadership to a diverse team of over 20 administrative staff who provide support and service to students and providers based out of multiple locations at the Point Grey campus. The incumbent develops, evaluates, and continuously improves on human resource initiatives to ensure the effective and timely recruitment, orientation, training, and support of staff. The incumbent determines and implements best practices for team engagement. The incumbent collaborates extensively and effectively with senior leadership across SHW, the University, and stakeholder communities to monitor, evaluate, and iterate on operations to achieve continuous improvement in the experiences of students, staff, and providers. The incumbent is responsible for the development of comprehensive policies, protocols and procedures that have significant impacts across SHW and the student population, ensuring procedures are in compliance with government, University, and applicable regulatory bodies policies and support the effective clinical, training, and outreach functions of SHW. This position liaises with UBC units and external organizations as needed. The Senior Manager, Operations advises senior administrative leadership in all aspects of operational delivery. The incumbent for this position demonstrates a commitment to anti-racism, equity, diversity and inclusionary practices throughout their management, interaction with students and staff, and implementation of policies. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that administrative functions and the delivery of service by administrative staff are student-centric. Organizational Status This position reports to the Associate Director, SHW and works closely with the SHW portfolio, a department in the Vice President Students portfolio. This position works closely with the Directors of Student Health Service, Counselling Services, and Health Equity, Promotion, and Education. The Senior Manager, Operations manages a team of administrative employees including student support workers and medical office assistants. Interacts with staff and leaders throughout SHW, medical and clinical providers, counsellors, and other team members to provide quality student care. They will be responsible for supporting and troubleshooting administrative functions for all SHW staff. VP Students portfolio works in partnership with faculties and other campus service providers to offer a range of opportunities and services that positively impact students experiences and assist in their ability to learn and prepare themselves for engagement in the University, community, industry and workplaces.
