What Your Role Will Include As a Certified Veterinary Technician in the Emergency Department, you will: Assist with triage and stabilization of incoming emergency patients Place catheters and initiate fluid therapy and emergency treatments Monitor hospitalized and critical care patients including vital signs and pain assessment Perform and interpret in house diagnostics such as bloodwork, urinalysis, cytology preparation, and blood gas analysis Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures including wound management, CPR, thoracocentesis, urinary catheter placement, and bandaging - Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Monitor anesthesia and sedation for emergency procedures and imaging when required Prepare patients for surgery, advanced diagnostics, or transfer to specialty departments Educate and communicate with clients during emergency visits regarding treatment plans and hospitalization updates Maintain detailed and accurate medical records within our hospital information system (EzyVet) Collaborate closely with specialty departments to ensure seamless patient care Advocate for patient comfort, safety, and compassionate nursing care throughout hospitalization
