About the role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2422000 and is part of the MD 175th ANG, National Guard. This is an indefinite position that may become permanent without further competition. See "Additional Information" section of the announcement for further details. Military Grades: E2 -E4 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience, education, or training, involving the movement of freight or passengers and determining transportation and operating costs. Experience participating in the direction and coordination of traffic management functions. Experience interpreting and providing routine advice on carrier tariffs and related routing guides. Interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively. Experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures. Experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges. Experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement. Experience in making effective presentations both orally and in writing. Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position.
