And starting right now, we want to do all that with you. Work Location/ Schedule: New York City in office 4 days a week (with some weeks requiring more based on business needs), balance days remote. The Role: Product Development Associate, Footwear Reformation is seeking an organized, process-oriented, and cross-functional Product Development Associate to streamline and execute the development of accessories but specifically focusing on footwear. This role will manage prototype tracking, maintain BOMs, ensure tech pack accuracy, and support quality checkpoints from sample to bulk. Partnering daily with Design, Merchandising, Sustainability, and supply-chain teams, this individual will play a critical role in maintaining timelines, elevating product standards, and strengthening communication across the development workflow. This position will report directly to the Sr. Director of Product Development.
Responsibilities
- Prototype Development:
- Work with the Design team to ensure Tech Packs align with project deadlines and are complete, detailing all materials and hardware.
- Track prototypes using organized charts.
- Manage the physical sample library, from development through to final approvals.
- Update and maintain SMS and Production Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Proto Reviews:
- Actively track prototypes while in transit to and from the factory. Unpack and check-in prototypes to ensure all samples arrived safely and on time.
- Consolidate style and material feedback from Design, Merchandising, and Factory teams to refine and improve the product.
- Support the Product Development Director and Design team with aesthetic feedback during each proto round.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Regularly communicate with the Sustainable Material Team Lead to ensure progress, resolve issues, and maintain product quality.
- Serve as the main point of contact for supply chain partners, and travel as needed.
- Quality Assurance:
- Reinforce Reformation's quality standards during each proto round and throughout production.
- Review confirmation samples, material trials, and bulk production units to ensure adherence to quality expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Product Development. (ideal, but not required)
- Proven experience in development, or product management.
- Strong knowledge of handbag materials, construction techniques, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills. Bulgarian or Italian fluency is a plus!
- Detail-oriented with a passion for innovation and quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and emerging trends in the accessories industry.
