This role works in close partnership with the Senior Director, Software Development Practices Transformation and the Enterprise AI R&D Product Director to unify engineering, practices, and AI-enablement into a consistent, scalable, and compliant approach. Job Description Roles Responsibilities: Define and maintain enterprise software engineering patterns and reference approaches Shape consistent engineering approaches for services, data, UI, and platform components that embed security, quality, and compliance. Enables faster starts, reduced variability, and improved interoperability across teams. Advance software reliability engineering (SRE) practices Guide adoption of reliability-focused engineering including service-level indicators, incident learning, and modern operational practices. Improves availability, reduces field defects, and lowers operational burden. Translate regulatory expectations into practical team-level engineering methods Ensure engineering teams can apply standards such as IEC 62304, ISO 14971, IEC 82304-1, and AAMI TIR45 in a lightweight, iterative way. Improves audit readiness while maintaining development velocity. Lead the software engineering standardization roadmap Develop and sequence a multi-quarter roadmap of engineering capabilities, tools, and skills. Ensures predictable adoption and compounding improvement across segments. Bridge AI R&D and Quality & Development Acceleration technical execution Align AI-enabled engineering tools with DevSecOps, validation, and QMS expectations. Accelerates safe adoption of AI that improves engineering throughput and reduces non-value-add effort. Establish enterprise engineering performance measures Define and deploy metrics for flow, quality, security, and reliability, enabling clear visibility from engineering work to business outcomes such as cycle time and EBIT impact. Modernize development environments and CI/CD systems Advance consistent development, build, test, and release workflows with secure dependency management and automated evidence generation. Shortens cycle time and reduces integration failures. Uplevel engineering talent and technical decision-making Provide coaching, design reviews, and technical guidance that raise engineering maturity and consistency. Builds durable skills and strengthens technical leadership across segments. Strengthen platform reuse and integration quality Promote consistent interface patterns, API standards, and shared services that minimize duplication. Improves integration speed and reliability across product lines. Foster a learning-oriented, improvement-driven engineering culture Model constructive challenge, data-driven experimentation, and transparent communication. Accelerates organizational learning and sustained improvement. Educational Qualifications: Bachelor' s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Technical skills: Deep software engineering background across cloud, data, embedded, or platform systems. Fluency with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, and secure development practices. Strong understanding of applying IEC, ISO, and AAMI standards in regulated environments. Ability to simplify complex technical concepts and influence cross-functional engineering decisions. 12+ years of software engineering experience with significant time in regulated health software. Proven technical leadership experience at scale in architecture, reliability, or platform engineering. Strong ability to influence outcomes across engineering, quality, regulatory, and product teams.
