What does a Departmental Specialist do for us? Under minimum direction and acting on own initiative and direction, they provide complex specialized support for one or more departments or administrative units. Typically, they support multiple senior or business unit managers and staff. Typical duties include maintenance of complicated data systems; research, compilation and analysis of data for reports/studies. Assignments involve work of a confidential nature and require knowledge of the practices and procedures of the function, company policies and programs. They act as the coordinator of departmental projects. May provide guidance or work leadership to lower-level staff. This position serves as direct support to critical operational and compliance functions that enable Power Production Engineering and Resource Development to meet regulatory obligations, maintain documentation integrity, and execute projects efficiently. The Departmental Specialist also acts as a central control point for administrative processes and financial transactions, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and audit readiness across the department. The Departmental Specialist is accountable for the following: Regulatory Compliance Management Works with Dam Safety staff to administer Dam Safety documentation and coordinates FERC notifications, helping to ensure adherence to regulatory deadlines and full auditability of records. Financial and Operational Execution Owns invoice processing, accrual support, contract payment authorization, and SOX-related reconciliation activities, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. Data and Systems Governance Maintains system integrity across SharePoint, Teams, and Asset Suite, including work order management, material requests, and reporting datasets. Process Ownership and Standardization Establishes and governs administrative processes that improve efficiency, ensure consistency, and support data-driven decision-making. Project and Program Coordination Assigns and tracks program and project tasks, maintains documentation, and ensures alignment with departmental and regulatory requirements. Departmental and Cross-Functional Support Coordinates communication across internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate information flow. Quality Control and Reporting Ensures accuracy and completion of recurring deliverables, including monthly reporting, quarterly accruals, budget variance notes, and other operational updates.
