We bring together expertise in technology, data, architecture, integrations, and operational development to build reliable digital capabilities that support operational workflows and decision-making across the airline. We are now looking for a (Full Stack) Data Scientist to join our Intelligent Operations team at Finnair. In this role, you will develop data science, AI, machine learning, and optimization solutions that support operational decision-making across Finnair. You will work with complex operational problems and help turn data, models, and analytical methods into practical solutions that improve situational awareness and support real-time, tactical, and day-to-day decision-making. The role combines strong data science expertise with an interest in software development. Our data science solutions are developed with production use in mind, which means attention to code quality, testing, maintainability, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with operational stakeholders, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Software Developers, architects, and other Digital teams to understand business needs and develop reliable analytical and AI-driven solutions for an operationally critical environment. Main responsibilities Work with operational stakeholders and Digital teams to understand business needs, identify operational challenges, and translate them into data science, AI, machine learning, or optimization solutions. Design, develop, validate, and deploy models and analytical solutions that support operational decision-making. Build scalable, maintainable, and production-ready data science solutions using modern software engineering practices. Develop clean, tested, and reusable code, applying test-driven development principles where appropriate. Contribute to MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, observability, and continuous improvement. Ensure high standards for data quality, model validation, governance, and responsible use of AI. Communicate findings, model outcomes, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders. Support the continuous improvement of data science, AI, optimization, software development, and MLOps practices within Intelligent Operations. Our expectations Master's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, Operations Research, or another relevant quantitative field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, operations research, or a similar analytical role. Strong Python programming skills, good understanding of statistics, probability, optimization, and machine learning methods, and experience developing analytical, machine learning, or optimization solutions for real-world business problems. Interest in software development and production-ready data science solutions, with familiarity in practices such as version control, testing, code quality, CI/CD, test-driven development, model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management. Ability to assess data quality, validate analytical outputs, and apply responsible AI principles such as transparency, validation, and governance. Practical problem-solving mindset and ability to communicate findings, model outcomes, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders. Experience with cloud-based development, preferably AWS, aviation, airline operations, or another operationally critical environment is considered an advantage. Fluency in English is required. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage.
