Your Opportunity Our Toronto office is looking for a Senior Consultant to join its Strategy, Value Creation & Analytics practice in our Financial Advisory Services team . The Strategy, Value Creation & Analytics helps companies drive profitable growth and improve financial and operational performance. We assist our clients in navigating urgent and critical situations where significant value is at stake, including defining moments such as M&A transactions, business transformation, growth, or recovery. Strategy, Value Creation & Analytics takes a practical and hands-on approach to rapidly identify high-impact initiatives that drive improved EBITDA and cash flow via a data-driven approach. The types of projects the team works on include: Performance improvement and turnaround Revenue growth and margin improvement Cost reduction and working capital optimization Strategy and business planning Process improvement and operating model design M&A: Market, commercial, and operational due diligence Pre-divestiture performance improvement Integration or carve-out/separation planning and execution Synergies analysis Applied business analytics In your role as a Consultant/Senior Consultant, you will: Conduct detailed research and analysis of client, industry, and market performance to support the development of practical strategies and action plans Assist in financial analysis and modeling to support project objectives Participate in client meetings and interviews, taking detailed notes and gathering relevant information Contribute to content development for client projects - including data gathering, analysis, and drafting sections of reports and presentations Collaborate effectively with team members and support project delivery Develop expertise in several of the Strategy, Value Creation & Analytics project areas listed above Support the practice's sales, business development, and marketing activities (including assisting with proposals and presentations) Identify potential opportunities to assist existing clients and report to senior team members Actively participate in supporting the development of the Strategy, Value Creation & Analytics practice How do we define success for your role? (standard) You demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect, and Collaboration You contribute to understanding the client's industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients describe you as proactive, positive, professional, and dependable You assist in identifying and delivering effective, high-quality service to your clients You contribute to an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains, and attracts talent You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive and enable an innovative workplace You grow your expertise through learning and professional development Your experience and education Completed undergraduate university degree with outstanding academic credentials Professional designations (e.g., CPA, P.Eng, Lean Six Sigma, etc.) and/or Master's level university education would be considered an asset 1-3 years of relevant work experience in strategy, financial planning & analysis, and/or management consulting; prior experience in the above-mentioned project areas would be an asset Interest in sustainability and ESG is also considered an asset Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills Proficiency in PowerPoint design, layout, and storyboarding Skilled in financial analysis or modeling, data analytics and visualization, market research and analysis, and project problem diagnosis Familiarity with modern data analytics and AI tools and software, such as Tableau, Power BI, ChatGPT, Notion or similar platforms Strong work initiative and the ability to adapt to new challenges and propose ideas Motivated, detail-oriented, autonomous, rigorous, and able to work under pressure The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel when necessary The expected range of compensation for this role is $60,000-$90,000 per annum.
