About the role
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This is a key technical role within Designer Group, supporting the successful delivery of complex M&E projects from design review through to construction, commissioning and handover. You will work closely with project teams, clients, suppliers, procurement, quality and commissioning teams to ensure electrical systems are designed, coordinated, approved and delivered to the highest standards. This role would suit an experienced electrical engineer with strong technical knowledge, a practical understanding of project delivery, and the ability to review, challenge and improve design solutions. What you will do As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will: Review drawings, specifications and schedules to ensure compliance with project requirements, electrical standards and industry guidance. Develop alternative engineering solutions, including calculations, sketches and technical proposals for client approval. Review coordinated construction drawings and technical documentation. Prepare and manage RFIs through the client approval process. Review specialist supplier packages to ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant standards. Prepare and monitor procurement schedules in conjunction with the procurement team. Manage technical submittals and support the approval process with clients and consultants. Review BCAR preliminary inspection plans and coordinate with the quality team. Monitor LEED and BREEAM requirements and related submittals where required. Support preparation of operation and maintenance manuals. Assist with client demonstrations and technical handover. Attend and support commissioning activities on site. Use engineering software such as Dialux, Relux, Amtech Pro Design and Navisworks where required. You should have: Level 7 degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Services Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical project engineering, electrical building services, electrical design coordination or a similar role. Strong understanding of electrical systems from a design and/or construction delivery perspective. Good knowledge of current Irish electrical standards, fire alarm standards and emergency lighting standards. Ability to review technical information, identify issues and propose practical solutions. Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with internal teams, clients, consultants and suppliers. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider project team. Desirable experience The following would be beneficial but not essential: Experience using Dialux, Relux, Amtech, Navisworks or similar engineering software. Experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, data centre, infrastructure or complex M&E projects. Exposure to LEED, BREEAM, BCAR, commissioning, technical submittals or handover documentation. Interest in progressing towards chartership.
