Position Overview We are seeking a Machine Shop Operator to join our skilled production team. This role is responsible for operating and supporting a variety of CNC and manual machine shop equipment to produce precision aviation components in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards. The Machine Shop Operator will set up, operate, and maintain equipment such as CNC mills and lathes, as well as manual machines including grinders and drill presses. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet required tolerances. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement while working effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes, as well as other equipment Perform tool changes, touch-offs, and initial part setup, including edge finding and offset calculations Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to produce accurate parts Measure and inspect parts using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and make offset adjustments as needed Deburr, finish, and inspect machined components to ensure quality standards are met Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to support efficient operation Maintain accurate documentation and part records as required Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment Collaborate with production and quality teams to meet manufacturing deadlines and specifications Qualifications Previous machining experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or machine shop environment preferred; trade school or technical training will be considered. Prior experience in aviation or aerospace manufacturing is preferred. Experience operating CNC machines is preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings and use precision measuring instruments accurately. Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer proficiency; experience with Microsoft Office is a plus. Demonstrated reliability, dependability, and commitment to quality, precision, and workplace safety Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 60 pounds at waist level Ability to stand for extended periods and safely handle materials Schedule Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts Why APS?
