The Division of Workforce Solutions (DWS) is seeking a strategic and experienced Veterans Employment Services Director to lead the administration and oversight of the Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) program. This leadership position is responsible for the functional and technical management of veteran-focused employment and training initiatives across North Carolina, ensuring alignment with federal requirements and state-level priorities. The Veterans Employment Services Director will serve as the primary liaison with NCWorks Career Center staff and other stakeholders, ensuring veterans receive high-quality, priority employment services. The role requires strong data analysis skills to interpret national and state labor trends impacting veterans, as well as the ability to manage federal grant funds effectively and compliantly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and programmatic oversight of the JVSG program across the state.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on veteran employment services and federal priority of service requirements.
  • Support NCWorks Career Center staff in the delivery of veteran services through guidance, technical assistance, and compliance monitoring.
  • Analyze labor market data and program performance trends to inform decision-making and policy development.
  • Manage and track federal grant funds to ensure efficient, compliant, and impactful use of resources.
  • Represent DWS in engagements with stakeholders, including other government agencies, community organizations, and employers.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training initiatives to enhance service delivery to veterans.
