About the role

Project Planning and Execution: Lead the full lifecycle of multiple simultaneous data center deployment projects, including design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover to operations. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design documents, and give regular progress reports. Technical Oversight and Collaboration: Provide technical guidance to teams, in collaboration with experts, on best practices for data center design and deployment, including considerations for power, cooling, networking, and physical security. Continual Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and operational efficiency. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance data center operations. Project Oversight: Ability to be on-site to monitor progress, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth project execution. Coordinate with local teams, contractors, and vendors during on-site visits.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in data center deployment, data center construction/whitespace project management, or technical project management in data centers.
  • Experience with high-performance compute environments and GPU technologies is a plus.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven track record of successfully managing complex technical projects from initiation to completion. Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Data Center Operations: In-depth knowledge of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems. Familiarity with data center best practices and industry standards.
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and propose innovative solutions. Strong decision-making and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Compliance and Security: Familiarity with industry standards such as TIA-942, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, data center compliance requirements, security protocols, and risk management practices.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to data center locations, sometimes on short notice.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or relevant experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, CDCP, CDCS, or similar) are a plus.
