Responsibilities
- As a Data Modeler, you play an important role in translating business requirements into a robust, scalable, and well-structured business data model. This model serves as a key foundation of the Vanderlande data platform.
- Your primary focus is mapping the data across Vanderlande business domains into a clear and consistent business data model. In this role, you act as a bridge between business and IT, effectively communicating with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- You work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and data analysts to ensure that data structures support strategic objectives, enable analytics, and comply with data governance standards.
- In this role, you:
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand business needs, processes, and objectives.
- Conduct interviews with both business and technical stakeholders to gather insights into processes and supporting systems.
- Translate these insights into a structured business data model aligned with architectural principles.
- Collaborate with ICT colleagues to define mappings from source systems to the business data model.
- Support the review and improvement of data mappings and model quality.
- Promote the use and value of the business data model within the organization and actively develop your data modeling skills.
- Your skills & competencies
- We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious Data Modeler who enjoys working with data and wants to grow in the field of data modeling.
- You bring:
- A bachelor's degree in Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Basic understanding of data modeling concepts (e.g., conceptual and logical modeling, entities and relationships).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to think abstractly and structure complex information.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into clear models.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
Requirements
- Experience with business data modeling through coursework, internships, or projects.
- Familiarity with UML or similar modeling techniques.
- Basic understanding of databases and SQL.
- Exposure to modern data concepts such as Data Mesh.
- Experience with Python or PySpark for data exploration is a plus.
