Maintains equipment assigned in daily operation. Ensures work is completed as scheduled and meets construction standards. Resolves worker problems or collaborates with employees to assist in problem resolution. Ensures work crew complies with work rules, safety rules, and OSHA regulations. Participates in loading and unloading materials, supplies, and equipment. Operates vehicles, hand tools, and power-operated equipment. Creates daily reports and paperwork to be entered into Cityworks. Communicates effectively with the public regarding inquiries about construction projects. Trains and develops employees as needed through worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, and customer service. Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals. Reports to work on call while on beeper duty for a period of a week at a time. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Transportation- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by road specifically, including laws and ordinances regulating the operation of vehicles. Customer and Personal Service- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Administration and Management- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and Construction- Knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and procedures used in the construction and maintenance of streets. Safety- Knowledge of OSHA, City, and Federal rules and regulations, as well as work hazards and applicable safety precautions of the assigned work. Personnel and Human Resources- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel selection and training. Computers and Electronics- Knowledge of computer applications such as Kronos and Microsoft Office. Mathematics- Knowledge of simple arithmetic and measurement dimensions such as square feet and cubic square feet. Psychology- Knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences, and learning and motivation. Active Listening- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Management of Personnel Resources- Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Communication- Knowing when and how much to communicate so that employees and the public gain the appropriate understanding with regards to Street Maintenance work.
