About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to help lead our Australian Shared Services Centre (SSC) Tax Accounting function. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring taxation compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the business. Reporting to the Taxation Counsel, you will play a critical role in managing both direct and indirect tax obligations while driving process improvements and supporting strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all direct and indirect taxation reporting and compliance activities
  • Prepare and manage Income Tax Returns, including consolidation and supporting schedules
  • Oversee FBT, GST/BAS, IAS, and Fuel Tax Credit reporting and lodgements
  • Coordinate tax effect accounting and quarterly group reporting requirements
  • Maintain and improve internal control systems aligned to compliance and audit standards
  • Provide technical tax guidance and training across the business
  • Supervise and review work performed within the Tax Accounting team
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and overall service delivery
  • Analyse legislative changes and ensure ongoing compliance with Australian tax law
  • Support audits, reviews, and ad hoc tax projects

  • Experience & Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years' recent experience in taxation accounting
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or related discipline
  • CA or CPA qualification (essential)
  • Experience with SAP or corporate tax systems (e.g., OneSource) highly regarded
  • Skills & Attributes
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation (Income Tax, GST, FBT)
  • Advanced MS Excel and high-level analytical capability
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to lead, coach, and influence others
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong commercial acumen
