Summary: The Industrial Electrical Controls Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical control systems and automation equipment within an industrial manufacturing environment. This position ensures production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably by supporting PLC systems, motor controls, instrumentation, and electrical distribution equipment. The technician works closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include those listed below, other duties may be assigned. This position is a full-time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position. Electrical & Controls Maintenance Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems and control circuits. Diagnose issues in PLC systems, motor controls, sensors, drives, and automation equipment. Maintain electrical distribution systems including panels, transformers, and power supplies. Perform wiring, panel modifications, and control system upgrades. Interpret and update schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals. Automation & PLC Systems Troubleshoot and support PLC hardware and associated control networks. Assist with PLC programming modifications and system improvements. Maintain and calibrate sensors, transmitters, and instrumentation devices. Support automated equipment including conveyors, robotics, and process controls. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical and control systems. Inspect equipment to identify potential failures and reliability issues. Document maintenance activities and corrective actions in CMMS systems. Assist with reliability improvement initiatives. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime. Analyze root causes of electrical and control system failures. Experience reading electrical schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams. Work with operations and engineering teams to implement permanent solutions. Safety & Compliance Follow all electrical safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Maintain compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and company safety standards. Ensure electrical installations meet applicable codes and standards. Position Requirements Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel related to controls systems. Train employees on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of existing equipment. Scheduled plant coverage rotation required to remotely log in and troubleshoot machine issues, or, if required, be on site to assist with troubleshooting. Resolve customer questions and/or concerns without seeking assistance from leadership. Assist in identifying and procuring equipment and parts necessary for daily maintenance requirements. Proficient troubleshooting, including electrical/electronic systems (+/- 10V, 24V, 120V) Proactive individual that takes responsibility for their equipment. Work in a team environment where honest communication, a positive attitude, engagement, and personal accountability are expected. Work off-shifts, weekends, and extended shifts (i.e., 12 hrs.). This position may require off-shift support for production or start up. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Must be experienced in PLC logic and programming with any of the following PLC's: Allen Bradly, Siemens. AA in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or Mechatronics Technology preferred plus 2 years' related experience in an industrial manufacturing setting; OR an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience. Certification of AB training courses a plus
