Clinical Nurse Specialist - Geriatric Emergency Medicine

Responsibilities

• Coach, mentor and support staff in the continued development of advanced clinical skills, critical decision making, and patient centered care
• Perform quality improvement and administrative responsibilities
• Conduct research activities; deliver, coordinate, and participate in education initiatives
• Engage in activities that support the development and advancement of the profession
• Serve as a consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community and other hospital/agencies
• Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
• Completion of a master's degree in nursing or recognized equivalent
• Specialty certificate in gerontology preferred
• Five (5) years experience in an acute care setting
• Experience in nursing research methodology
• Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution
• Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario

This role involves advanced clinical decision-making and leadership in nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse Specialist serves as a leader and change agent, supporting the implementation of best practices and the advancement of nursing standards in the Emergency Department (ED).
